2. Remove the center console (if available, see chapter 11).
3. Loosen the pinch bolt on the gear linkage coupling (see fig. 6.11).
4. Remove the small plug from the gearbox housing.
5. Standing facing the front of the car, grab the gear shift rod and turn it counterclockwise so that a drill with a diameter of 4.5 mm can be inserted into the hole left after removing the plug. Insert the drill so that it fits completely into the hole in the lever (see photo).
Photo 6.5. Adjusting the gear shift rod (the traction cover has been removed for reasons of clarity).
6. Now you will need an assistant to lift up the gear lever boot and move the lever through the neutral position on the rocker up to the reverse gear stop so that it aligns with the center point of the rocker corresponding to 1/2 gears (see fig. 6.12).
7. Without changing the position of the lever, tighten the pinch bolt of the gear linkage clutch.
8. Pull out the drill and replace the plug. To prevent oil from leaking out of the box, it is extremely important that the plug fits tightly in the hole. If this is not the case, the plug should be replaced.
9. Reinstall the gear shift boot and center console.
