Remove the plug from the adjuster hole in the shift lever cover (pic. 7.3).
Looking at the bulkhead of the engine compartment, grasp the shift lever and turn it clockwise until a 4.5 mm twist drill can be inserted into the adjustment mechanism hole in the shift lever cover (pic. 7.4).
Working from inside the vehicle, pull the front edge of the shift lever gaiter towards you and gain access to the base of the shift lever.
Now a helper is needed to keep the shift lever in neutral 1st/2nd gear. The lever must rest against the reverse stop, and the arrow and cutout must be aligned (pic. 7.5).
Without moving the shift lever, tighten the bolt to secure the shift rod to the bushing in the engine compartment.
Check if it meets the requirements of the specification (maximum 3 mm) free play of the shift lever between the hook (A) and limiter (IN) at the base of the lever (pic. 7.6).
Install the shift lever boot on the center console.
Remove the twist drill from the adjustment mechanism hole in the selector cover and plug the hole with a new plug.
At the end of work, check if all gears can be easily engaged (on a stationary vehicle), but with the engine running and the clutch pedal depressed.
