The reverse light circuit is activated by a plunger-type switch located on the gearbox housing.
To test the switch, disconnect the wire and use a tester to (or batteries and light bulbs) check continuity between switch terminals (should only be in reverse gear). If this is not the case and there are no obvious breaks or other damage to the wires. The switch has failed and needs to be replaced.
The switch is accessible from the engine compartment.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal, then disconnect the wiring from the switch (pic. 7.14).
Loosen the screws securing the switch to the gearbox.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
