Gear lever
Make sure the lever is in the neutral position.
Pull the front edge of the bellows on the shift lever to release it from the center console to access the base of the shift lever.
Remove the retainer from the shift lever shaft. then remove the axle and pull out the lever (pic. 7.8. 7.9).
To replace the bellows of the shift lever and its head, do the following.
On models with a plastic lever head, soak it in hot water (about 80°C) for a few minutes, then turn the crown and remove from the lever. On models where the head is covered with leather, hold the lever in a soft-seated vise and, substituting a wrench under the head, remove it.
When replacing the bellows, use a small amount of liquid detergent as a lubricant if necessary to help fit the bellows.
Put the lever head back in place. When installing the plastic head, preheat it in hot water in the same way as during removal.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Now you can remove the housing and bushing.
If desired, the rubber cover can be removed by pulling the old cover off the bulkhead and pulling on the new one.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal, however, before tightening the pinch bolt, adjust the shift linkage as described in the previous section.
Gear lever mechanism
Loosen the bolt securing the bushing to the linkage. After removing the latch, then remove the axis of the universal joint of the mechanism.
Remove the axle from the bracket on the rear engine/transmission mount.
Remove the linkage from the vehicle.
Check linkage elements for wear and replace if necessary. The axle bushings and stem can be replaced. We do not recommend further disassembly.
