Engine 2.0 l (C20NE)
These engines were installed until the middle of 1995 of release.
1. Remove the pump drive V-belt as described below.
2. Disconnect the suction hose and pressure pipe from the pump.
3. Collect the leaking liquid. The hose is fixed with a clamp, the pipeline with a union nut. The connections are shown in the illustration.
4. Close the holes.
5. Now you can unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the pump from the console.
6. If it is necessary to install a new pump, immediately unscrew the coupling bolt and remove the turntable, as it is moved to the new pump.
7. Tighten the turntable mounting bolts to 25 Nm.
8. The pump is installed with a console and a coupling bolt. Check the V-belt, put it on and adjust the tension as described below. Tighten the coupling bolt and the console fastening bolts to a torque of 25 Nm.
9. Install the fluid supply hose with a new clamp and pressure pipe.
10. Screw on and tighten the cap nut to 20 Nm.
11. After assembly, fill the system with fluid and bleed air as described above.
12. Check the system for leaks.
Engine 2.4 l
This engine is installed on cars up to the middle of 1995 of release.
1. If there is an air conditioner, remove the compressor drive V-belt.
2. Remove the power steering pump drive V-belt as described below.
3. Disconnect the suction and pressure pipes from the pump.
4. Collect the leaking liquid. Close open holes with plugs.
5. Now you can unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the pump from the console.
6. Disconnect the pump according to the illustration. To do this, unscrew the coupling bolt and mounting bracket mounting bolts.
7. If the pump needs to be replaced, disconnect the turntable and attach it to the new pump.
8. Tighten the mounting bolts to a torque of 25 Nm.
Install the pump in the reverse order of removal.
1. Tighten the pump mounting bolts to 25 Nm.
2. Follow the instructions above for the 2.0L engine pump.
2.0L engine, manufactured since mid-1995 and 2.2L engine
Both engines are installed on cars of the second generation, i.e. on 2.0 l OHC and 2.2 l DOHC engines. Keep in mind that on an air-conditioned vehicle, the pump is located under the alternator.
1. Loosen the belt tension as described in Chapter Engine. for both engines. Remember to mark the direction of rotation of the belt on its outer surface.
2. Disconnect the pressure and suction pipes from the pump.
3. Collect the escaping liquid. Plug open pipes.
4. Turn away bolts 1, 2, 3 and 4 shown on an illustration.
5. Fold the holder up and take out the pump.
Install the pump in the reverse order of removal. Observe the following tightening torques:
1. Put on the V-belt as described in Chapter Engine
2. Pour fluid into the system and bleed air.
