The pressure of the working fluid is created by a pump driven by the car engine. The hydraulic pump has built-in relief and bypass valves. The safety valve does not allow the liquid pressure to rise above the set value, the bypass valve bypasses excess liquid to the drain.
The reservoir contains the fluid necessary for the operation of the hydraulic booster. There is a fluid filter in the tank.
When performing any work on the hydraulic booster, keep the following in mind:
- if necessary, the car can be raised and placed on stands
- vehicle must be secured
- one or both wheels can be removed if necessary
- before removing the wheels, it is necessary to mark their position relative to the hubs
When disconnecting hoses and pipelines, fluid flows out. Substitute a container to collect the escaping liquid.
When assembling hose connections and piping, make sure that the hoses are not kinked or twisted. Also make sure that pipes and especially hoses do not come into contact with hot spots or rotating parts.
Clamps, gaskets and similar parts must always be installed new.
After assembling the system, fill with liquid and remove air from the system.
Use only fluids recommended by Opel.
After assembly, start the engine and check the system for leaks. Leaks are always visible in the traces of drops on the ground under the car.
