Models with 1.4 and 1.6 l engines
The power steering pump is driven by the alternator belt.
The belt is removed, installed and adjusted as indicated in chapter 12.
Models with 1.8 and 2.0 l engines
Loosen the adjusting and mounting bolts as shown in the figure (fig. 10.31.).

Loosen the adjusting nuts and adjust the length of the threaded rod to remove or tighten the drive belt (fig. 10.30.).

The company recommends using a special device to tension the belt, but it can be adjusted approximately by changing the length of the threaded part of the rod. In this case, the belt deflection should be about 10 mm with moderate pressure on the middle of the thumb belt. It is better not to overtighten the belt, this will lead to premature failure of the pump.
Tighten the adjusting nuts, then tighten the set bolts and adjusting bolts as required after finishing the work.
If a new belt is installed, check its tension after driving several hundred kilometers.
