The selector lever must be in position P.
Removal
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
Remove the handles from the selector lever and transfer case control lever.
Remove the lower instrument cluster trim and the rear and center console (see the relevant chapter).
Disconnect the transmission control cable from the selector lever pin.
Disconnect the selector lever cable housing by squeezing the tabs and pulling them through the hole.
Disconnect the connectors from the automatic transmission control unit.
Remove the 2 nuts and remove the transmission control cable seal from the vehicle floor.
Remove the clamp and pull the transmission control cable out of the bracket slot located on the transmission.
Loosen the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable from the transmission mode selector lever.
Disconnect the selector lever cable housing from the bracket by squeezing the clamps and pulling the cable through the groove.
Pull the transmission control cable through the hole in the floor and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation
Before installation, make sure the selector lever is in position P.
Insert the transmission control cable through the hole in the floor of the car into the slot in the bracket.
Use a clamp to secure the transmission control cable to the bracket.
Install the transmission control cable onto the selector lever pin.
Install the transmission control cable onto the transmission mode selector lever, which should be in the rear position, and secure it with the nut, tightening it to a torque of 23 N·m. Release the cable, then press the lock down.
Place the transmission control cable seal on the vehicle floor and secure with 2 nuts, tightening them to 9 Nm.
Install the rear and center console, as well as the lower instrument cluster trim (see the relevant chapter).
Install the handles on the selector lever and transfer case control lever.
Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
