Liquid crystal instrument cluster
On some vehicles, instead of gauges and control lamps for oil pressure, battery charge and coolant temperature, an instrument cluster with liquid crystal screens is used, which are located as follows:
- on the left side of the combination are four screens showing from top to bottom; oil pressure, battery charge, coolant temperature, fuel level;
- in the center of the combination there is a screen showing the speed of movement, the total mileage of the car in kilometers, the daily mileage of the car;
- on the right side of the combination there is a square screen showing the engine speed in rpm.
When the ignition is turned on, an automatic check of the serviceability of liquid crystal devices occurs, the sectors and scales of which pass from the minimum to the maximum readings within 2 s, which are displayed for the next 3 s. The number 125 is displayed on the screen of the speed indicator for 2 seconds, then the number 228.
If there is no change in readings in the specified sequence, then this indicates a malfunction of the system. The automatic health check stops when the engine is started.
Oil pressure gauge
The oil pressure gauge is located at the top left of the combination. The control indicator lamp lights up when the ignition is switched on and goes out when the engine idle speed is exceeded.
The oil pressure is indicated by light bars. When the oil pressure drops below the minimum allowable value, the control lamp starts flashing. In this case, you must immediately stop the engine, check the oil level and, if necessary, contact a service station
Battery indicator
This pointer is located below the oil pressure gauge screen.
When the ignition is turned on before starting the engine, the control lamp located on the left side of the screen lights up, and after starting the engine at idle, it goes out. The flashing of the lamp while the vehicle is moving indicates that there is no charge current for the battery. Determine the cause of the malfunction and, if necessary, immediately contact a service station.
The battery charge voltage is shown as light bars. When starting the engine, the voltage should not fall to the left of the red horizontal line. While the vehicle is moving, it must be to the right of the orange horizontal stroke, i.e. above 12 V. When the charge voltage is above 15 V and below 9 V, the indicator lamp starts flashing.
Coolant temperature gauge
The third screen from the top on the left side of the instrument cluster is the coolant gauge.
The coolant temperature is displayed in the form of light bars that form three color sectors:
- blue sector cold or warm engine;
- orange sector: normal operating temperature of the coolant;
- red sector: engine overheating.
Fuel gauge
The lower screen on the left side of the instrument cluster serves as a fuel gauge
The fuel level is displayed in proportion to the height of the light bars. When the extreme left sector is lit, the warning lamp of the emergency fuel level also lights up.
Speedometer and trip meters
The digital speed indicator with indication limits from 7 to 250 km/h is located in the center of the instrument cluster. At speeds below 7 km/h, the readings are zero. In the range from 7 to 60 m/h, the indication step is 1 km/h. and at speeds over 60 km/h - 2 km/h.
Below the speedometer there is a summing counter of the distance traveled (left) and a daily mileage counter with a zero-setting knob.
Tachometer
3 on the right side of the instrument cluster is the tachometer screen. Depending on the speed of the engine crankshaft, light strokes light up sequentially, forming a curve consisting of three sectors:
- yellow sector: normal engine mode;
- orange sector: short-term permissible mode, for example when overtaking quickly;
- red sector: dangerous engine operation mode.
Below the screens on the left side of the instrument cluster are indicator lamps (from left to right): trailer turn signals (on some vehicles); turning on outdoor lighting; turning on high beam headlights; left direction indicators.
Below the tachometer screen are control lamps (from left to right): right direction indicators; applying the parking brake and brake fluid level (on some vehicles); unfastened seat belts (on some vehicles).
