Attention.
- Turn off the ignition when installing or removing the connectors of the control unit, as well as when disconnecting or connecting power to the control units to prevent internal damage to the electronic units.
- Damage to electronic control units can result from contact of the metal case with the battery power line Do not apply battery power to the metal case of the control unit when servicing it, using jumper wires or when charging the battery.
- To prevent possible damage to the control unit from electrostatic discharges, do not touch the connector pins or the solder points of components on the printed circuit boards.
- Remove any contamination from the surface around the control box connectors before servicing. Check the gaskets of the control unit connectors when diagnosing or replacing the control unit. Make sure the gasket is installed correctly. Gaskets prevent dirt from entering the control box.
- The replaced control unit must be reprogrammed.
Note. Record the remaining life of the engine oil. If the replaced control unit is not reprogrammed with remaining engine oil life information, the default engine oil life will be 100%. In this case, the engine oil must be changed after 5000 km of run since the last oil change.
1. Prepare the engine control unit for replacement by performing the necessary reset procedures using the diagnostic equipment.
Note. If the electronic engine control unit is replaced, the unit's firmware must first be reset before being removed from the vehicle. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the following:
- Inability to check the electronic engine control unit for warranty purposes.
- Inability to use the electronic control unit on other vehicles.
2. Using a scan tool, read the remaining engine oil life information. Write down the received data.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
4. Disconnect the two connectors from the electronic control unit.
5. Unhook the control unit bracket (1) from the battery shelf.
6. Remove four nuts.
Note. Tightening torque of the engine ECU mounting nuts: 9 Nm.
7. Remove the electronic engine control unit (2) from bracket (1).
8. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. After installing the electronic engine control unit, it is necessary to perform the procedure for reprogramming it.
