Contents: Checking the fuel pump relay ⬇ Checking the injection system power…⬇
Connect the indicator lamp to the plugs "1" and "5" of the unit connector without disconnecting the connector.

Turn on the ignition and start the engine. The indicator lamp should first glow dimly, then about 1 second after the engine starts, it should glow brightly and start blinking. If this does not happen, use an ohmmeter to check the integrity of the circuit between terminal "1" of the control unit connector and terminal "1" of the ignition coil, as well as the integrity of the circuit between terminal "1" of the unit connector and ground.

Checking the fuel pump relay

Connect the test lamp to terminals "4" and "5" of the control unit connector.

Turn on the ignition and start the engine. The indicator lamp should light. If it does not light, check the integrity of the circuit by connecting an ohmmeter between terminal "4" of the control unit connector and terminal "50" of the fuel pump relay.

Checking the injection system power relay

Connect the test lamp between terminals "9" and "5" of the control unit connector.

Turn on the ignition and start the engine. The indicator lamp should light. If the lamp does not light, check the integrity of the circuit by connecting an ohmmeter between terminal "9" of the control unit connector and terminal "87" of the power relay, then between terminal "30" of the control relay and the positive terminal of the storage battery. If the indicator lamp does not light with the circuits in good condition, replace the injection system power relay.

Note: The sequence of system checks when determining faults is given in the table on page 102.
