Electronic Engine Control Unit 1.8 DOHC — Replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The necessity of performing this operation should be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the engine control system (see "Engine management system - technical condition check and fault diagnostics").

Warning! Before performing the operation, be sure to read the section "Safety precautions for maintenance and repair of the engine management system".

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the decorative engine cover (see "Engine trim panel - removal and installation").

3. Pull out the ECU wiring harness connector retainer in the direction indicated by the arrow.



4. Lower the retainer down until it stops.



5. Disconnect the ECU wiring harness connector.



6. Similarly, lower the retainer and disconnect the second block of the ECU wiring harness.



7. Remove the detonation sensor wiring harness connector from the bracket on the ECU unit, pulling it in the direction indicated by the arrow.



8. Using a 10 mm wrench, unscrew the two rear ECU mounting bolts and disconnect the ground wire.



9. Using the same wrench, unscrew the two front ECU mounting bolts and remove the detonation sensor wiring harness connector mounting bracket.





10. Remove the electronic engine control unit.



11. Install the parts in reverse order.
