Removal and installation of the electronic engine control unit (Opel Astra J)

You will need a 10 mm socket head.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.



2. Press the lock of the wiring harness connector…



3. …fold back the latch…



4. …and disconnect the connector from the engine control unit.



5. Disconnect the second connector from the block in the same way.





6. Unscrew the four nuts securing the electronic engine control unit to the bracket on the battery mounting shelf…

Note: This is how the control unit mounting nuts are located.

7. …move the wiring harness mounting bracket away…



8. ...and remove the block.

Note: If the ECM was removed for replacement, replace it with a similar one.

9. Install the engine control unit in the reverse order of removal.
