Replacing the ignition switch (lock) cylinder (Opel Astra J)

You will need a thin rod (for example, a drill).

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.



2. Remove the steering wheel (see Removal and installation the steering wheel).



3. Remove the top…



4. …and the lower part of the steering column cover (see Removal and installation the steering column cover).





5. Insert the key into the ignition switch…



6. …turn it to the first position…



7. …then, keeping the key turned, insert the rod (for example, a drill) into the technological hole and press down the spring-loaded retainer.

8. Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the lock housing.

9. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
