Evaporative Canister Purge Valve — Checking and Replacing (Opel Zafira A)

The necessity of performing this operation should be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the engine control system (see "Engine management system - technical condition check and fault diagnostics").

Warning! Before performing the operation, be sure to read the section "Safety precautions for maintenance and repair of the engine management system".

To complete the job you will need a rubber bulb.

Examination

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the purge valve of the adsorber (see below).

3. Squeeze the rubber bulb and connect it to the valve nipple. The bulb should remain compressed. Otherwise, the valve does not close tightly and must be replaced.



4. Apply 12 V to the valve terminals, it should open and the bulb should straighten out. Otherwise, the valve is faulty and must be replaced.

Replacement

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Bend back the retainer and disconnect the wiring harness block from the valve.



3. Disconnect two pipelines from the valve.



4. Remove the valve from the bracket by pulling it upwards.



5. Install the new valve and all removed parts in reverse order.
