You will need a multimeter and a new clamp to get the job done.
Warning! Before performing the operation, be sure to read the section «Safety measures for the maintenance and repair of the engine management system».
Examination
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the fuel pump (see below) and briefly apply a voltage of 12 V to the terminals of the pump block (the polarity of the connection is indicated on the block).
3. If the pump does not work, replace it. If the pump works, check the fuel pump wiring harness...
...and fuel pump power circuit (see «Checking and repairing electrical circuits»).
Replacement
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Relieve pressure in the fuel line (see «Fuel Line - Pressure Relief»).
Comment. Further execution of the operation is shown on the example of the Astra model. On the Zafira model, the operation is performed with the fuel tank removed (see «Fuel tank - removal and installation») due to the lack of a special hatch in the floor panel.
3. Remove the rear seat cushion by folding it forward.
4. We bend forward the carpet cover of the hatch.
5. Raise the latch with a thin slotted screwdriver...
... and disconnect the wiring harness block from the fuel module.
6. Using pliers with thin sponges, we squeeze the clamps...
... and disconnect the return fuel line from the fuel module.
7. Disconnect the fuel supply line in the same way.
8. Turn the locking ring counterclockwise...
...and carefully remove it.
9. Remove the sealing ring. A damaged ring must be replaced.
10. Raise the cover of the fuel module and disconnect the block of the fuel pump wiring harness from it.
11. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the fuel pressure regulator.
Comment. Before further disassembly, we check the integrity and reliability of the connections of the supply hose clamps. Damage to the hose or clamps will result in low or no fuel pressure in the fuel rail, even if the fuel pump is working properly.
12. Cut the collar (must be replaced with a new one during reassembly) and disconnect the fuel supply hose from the fuel pump.
13. We press three latches towards the center and remove the fuel pump assembly with the housing from the fuel tank.
14. Remove the coarse fuel filter.
Recommendation. The filter must be cleaned before assembly. In case of severe contamination or mechanical damage, the filter must be replaced.
15. Disconnect the wiring harness block from the fuel pump.
16. We squeeze three pairs of clamps...
... and remove the fuel pump centering ring.
17. Remove the fuel pump from the housing.
18. Install the parts in reverse order.
