Oxygen Concentration Sensors — Replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The necessity of performing this operation should be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the engine control system (see "Engine management system - technical condition check and fault diagnostics"). Depending on the year of manufacture and engine model of the vehicle, one or two oxygen concentration sensors may be installed.

Warning! Before performing the operation, read the safety regulations for servicing and repairing the engine management system (see "Safety precautions for maintenance and repair of the engine management system").

Note: To replace the oxygen concentration sensors, it is highly recommended to have a special key (see "Tools, accessories and operating materials").

Replacing the oxygen concentration control sensor (on vehicles with two sensors)

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the decorative engine cover (see "Engine trim panel - removal and installation").

3. Remove the wiring harness from the holder on the cylinder head cover.



4. Disconnect the sensor wiring harness connector.





5. Using a special key, unscrew the oxygen concentration sensor from the exhaust manifold.



6. Install the parts in reverse order.

Replacing the Oxygen Concentration Diagnostic Sensor (on vehicles with two sensors)

To carry out the work, you will need an inspection pit or overpass.

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Disconnect the oxygen concentration sensor connector.



3. Using a 22 mm spanner, loosen the sensor.





4. Unscrew the sensor from the inlet pipe.



5. Install the parts in reverse order.

Replacing the oxygen concentration control sensor (on vehicles with one sensor)

To carry out the work, you will need an inspection pit or overpass.

1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Disconnect the oxygen concentration sensor wiring harness connector and lower the harness down.



3. Remove the wiring harness from the brackets on the engine block.





4. Using a 22 mm socket wrench, unscrew the oxygen concentration sensor from the inlet pipe.



5. Install the parts in reverse order.

Note: Secure the sensor wiring harness in the mounting brackets to avoid contact with hot engine parts.
