Electronic control unit for engines 1.4 and 1.6 DOHC — replacement (Opel Zafira A)

The necessity of performing this operation should be determined during the inspection of the technical condition of the engine control system (see "Engine management system - technical condition check and fault diagnostics").

Warning! Before performing the operation, be sure to read the section "Safety precautions for maintenance and repair of the engine management system".


Sequence of execution



1. Prepare the car for work (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").

2. Remove the battery (see "Battery - Removal and Installation").

3. Remove the decorative engine cover (see "Engine trim panel - removal and installation").

4. Disconnect the black wiring harness connector.

5. Disconnect the gray wiring harness connector.

6. Pull out the retainer of the upper block of the ECU wiring harness in the direction indicated by the arrow.

7. Disconnect the upper connector of the ECU wiring harness.

8. Pull out the retainer of the lower block of the ECU wiring harness in the same way as the upper one.

9. Disconnect the lower connector of the ECU wiring harness.

10. Disconnect the wiring harness from the holder bar.

11. Using a TORX T20 key, unscrew the two front ECU mounting bolts.

12. Move the wiring harness connector bracket to the side.

13. Using a TORX T20 key, unscrew the two rear mounting bolts and remove the electronic engine control unit.
