Rear suspension (Opel Kadett E)

            0

The rear suspension does not require special maintenance. Check the condition of the shock absorbers every 15,000 km (performance and absence of oil leakage) and silent blocks.

To adjust the height of the body floor on vehicles with rear suspension with pneumatic shock absorbers, which provide adjustment of the body floor position depending on the vehicle load, perform the following operations:
  • place the equipped vehicle on a flat horizontal surface;
  • screw the hose of the hand pump for inflating the tires to the nipple located on the right side of the trunk, and using the pump bring the air pressure in the pneumatic shock absorbers to 0.8 km/cm;
  • measure the distance between the road surface and the center of the rear bumper;
  • load the vehicle without exceeding the permissible gross weight;
  • pump air into the air shock absorbers so that the distance between the road surface and the center of the rear bumper becomes equal to the value obtained when measuring on the equipped vehicle. In this case, it is prohibited to increase the air pressure in the air shock absorbers above 5 kg/cm².

When the vehicle is fully loaded, the air pressure in the air shock absorbers must be at least 3 kg/cm².

When reducing the weight of the cargo in the vehicle, it is necessary to release the air pressure in the pneumatic shock absorbers to a value that ensures the normal height of the body floor, but not less than 0.8 kg/cm².
