Removal
Remove the timing belt of the gas distribution mechanism drive (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the crankshaft pulley (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the crankcase (see the relevant chapter).
Remove the oil pickup tube with mesh filter from the cylinder block.
Remove 8 bolts and remove the oil pump from the cylinder block.

Disassembly
Remove 2 bolts and remove retainer, spring and plunger of relief valve from oil pump.

Remove the screws and remove the cover from the oil pump.
Use a screwdriver to lever out the seal, being careful not to damage the pump body.
Examination
Check the condition and replace the following parts if necessary;
- deformed or damaged oil pump housing and/or cover;
- worn or damaged plunger;
- a weakened or broken spring.
Visually inspect the safety valve components for wear or damage.
Check the sliding surface of the safety valve plunger.
Lubricate the plunger of the relief valve with engine oil, insert it into place and make sure that it descends smoothly under its own weight. Otherwise, replace the relief valve plunger.
Use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the outer rotor and the pump body.
Maximum permissible clearance between the outer rotor and the oil pump housing: 0.20 mm
Use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the teeth of the oil pump rotors.
Maximum permissible gap between the teeth of the oil pump rotors: 0.35 mm
Use a metal ruler and feeler gauge to measure the lateral clearance of the pump rotors.
Maximum permissible lateral clearance of oil pump rotors: 0.15 mm
Assembly
Install the outer and inner rotors into the oil pump housing.
Apply a thin layer of sealant to the threads of the cover mounting screws.
Install the oil pump cover and secure with screws, tightening them to a torque of 10 Nm.
Lubricate the working lip of the new oil seal and the oil seal seat with engine oil.
Install the seal into the pump housing socket.
Make sure the pump rotors rotate easily and smoothly.
Install the plunger, spring and safety valve retainer into the pump body and secure it with 2 bolts, tightening them to a torque of 8 Nm.
Installation
Clean the mating surfaces of the oil pump and cylinder block.
Apply a layer of sealant to the mating surface of the oil pump. Apply a bead of sealant to the inside of the oil pump mounting bolt holes. Install the oil pump no later than five minutes after applying the sealant and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 25 Nm.

Before installing the oil pump, lubricate the seal lips with engine oil and be careful not to remove the seal snap ring during installation.
Check the oil pickup tube with mesh filter for cracks or damage and replace the mesh oil filter if necessary.
Install the oil pick-up pipe with the mesh filter and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 25 N·m.
Install the crankcase and secure with 18 bolts, tightening them to a torque of 10 Nm.
Install the crankshaft pulley. Using the KM-942 and KM-662-C tools, hold the pulley from turning and tighten the new pulley mounting bolt to a torque of 167 N·m.
Install the timing belt (see the relevant chapter).
