Note: The diaphragm assembly must be replaced as a whole, there are no separate parts.

Examination

1. If a vacuum source with a gauge is available, apply approximately 300 mbar of pressure to the diaphragm block, in the hose closest to the carburetor body. Close the vacuum and check that a vacuum remains in the block. If there is a leak, repair it or replace the leaking component.

Removal

2. On early models, remove the air cleaner. On later models, disconnect the main air duct from the air cleaner, then disconnect the air pipe breather vacuum hose from the air block. Remove the three mounting screws, remove the air block together with the main air duct.

4. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the diaphragm drive rod ball joint from the secondary throttle rod.

5. On 1.6 and 1.8 liter models, unscrew the two mounting screws, lift the vapor separator from the bracket. Move the vapor separator to the side, making sure that the fuel supply hoses are not deformed.

6. Unscrew the three mounting screws, remove the diaphragm block together with the bracket from the carburetor body.
