Note: Diaphragm assembly must be replaced as a whole, there are no individual parts.
Examination
1. If a vacuum source with a pressure gauge is available, pressurize approximately 300 mbar in the diaphragm assembly, in the hose closest to the carburetor body. Close the vacuum and check that the vacuum remains in the block. If there is a leak, repair it or replace the leakage component.
Removing
2. On early models, remove the air filter. On late models, disconnect the main air line from the air filter, then disconnect the air pipe breather vacuum hose from the air unit. Unscrew the three fastening screws, remove the air unit together with the main air duct.
3. Disconnect the vacuum tube from the diaphragm assembly.
4. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the diaphragm drive link ball joint from the secondary throttle link.
5. On models 1.6 and 1.8 liters, unscrew the two fixing screws, lift the vapor separator from the bracket. Move the steam separator to the side, make sure that the fuel supply hoses are not deformed.
6. Unscrew the three fastening screws, remove the diaphragm block together with the bracket from the carburetor body.
Installation
