Removal
1. Working inside the passenger compartment, remove the lower trim panel in the driver's footwell.
2. Pull the cable support off the bracket on top of the pedal, disconnect the end of the cable from the pedal.
3. Remove the snap ring from the right end of the pivot shaft, then pull out the pivot shaft from the left side of the bracket (see illustration). Remove the pivot axle bushings and pedal return spring.
4. Inspect the pivot axle bushings for signs of wear, replace if necessary.
Installation
5. Install in the reverse order, but finally check the operation of the throttle mechanism and also check the adjustment of the throttle cable as described in Chapter 11.
