Note: Before you start, see Chapter 2.
Removing
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Pump out any remaining fuel from the tank through the filler pipe.
3. Block the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and place it on axle stands placed under the sidewalls of the body frame.
4. Disconnect the soft joint of the front frequencies of the exhaust system. Secure the front section of the exhaust system with a wire or twine to the bottom.
5. Disconnect the rear part of the exhaust system from the rubber suspensions, lay it on the rear suspension torsion beam. It is also recommended to tie the rear section of the exhaust system from the front end with a wire or twine to the bottom.
6. Unfasten the handbrake cable from the bracket on the left fuel tank strap.
7. Disconnect the fuel supply hoses from the fuel level sensor located on the right side of the fuel tank. Note the position of the hose so as not to confuse it during installation. Seal the open ends of the hoses to prevent dirt from entering and fuel loss.
8. Disconnect the electrical wiring from the fuel level sensor.
9. Disconnect the filler hoses at the vent on the back of the fuel tank.
10. Support the fuel tank with a jack.
11. Loosen the tank strap bolts, then remove the straps and lower the tank just enough to allow the remaining vent hoses to be disconnected
12. Get a tank sideways from under the car on the right side. Please note that when removing the tank, some fuel may leak out.
Inspection
13. If the tank contains sediment or water, it can be rinsed two or three times with clean fuel. But before flushing, remove the fuel level sensor as described in Chapter 8. Perform this procedure in a well-ventilated area or outdoors, observing fire safety measures.
14. The fuel tank should only be repaired by a professional. Never attempt to weld or solder the fuel tank. Removal of residual fuel vapor requires several hours of special cleaning.
Installation
15. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Make sure all hoses are properly connected as noted prior to removal.
16. Finally, fill the fuel tank, then start the engine and check the system for leaks. If there are leaks, shut off the engine immediately and repair the problem without delay.
