The fuel system on all carbureted models includes a fuel tank, a fuel priming pump, a vapor separator (only 1.6 and 1.8 liter models), downdraft carburetor, temperature controlled air filter.
The fuel tank is installed under the rear of the vehicle, in front of the rear suspension. The tank is ventilated and contains a filler pipe and a fuel level sensor.
The fuel pump is a mechanical diaphragm type driven by a pusher bearing on the camshaft.
The fuel vapor separator is designed to stabilize the fuel supply to the carburetor. Steam is released from the fuel entering the carburetor, thus improving the quality of starting from a hot state.
Carburetor - Pierburg 2EZ, a full description is given in Chapter 12.
The air filter has a wax or vacuum control of the intake air, hot and cold air are mixed, the air temperature is maintained at a certain level that satisfies most engine operating conditions. A more complete description is given in Chapter 4.
All engines used on Vectra models can be run on unleaded gasoline, see Section 5.
