Diesel engine 17YD 1.7L
Attention! For correct adjustment of the valve timing, it is important that the timing belt for the camshaft drive is correctly tensioned. You can accurately check the belt tension only with the help of a special tool Opel KM-510A.
Check toothed belt tension.
Set cylinder #1 to TDC.
Adjustment using measuring bar KM-238-2 and indicator MKM-571
Instead of a measuring bar, you can use a steel ruler to which the indicator is attached.
Install the measuring bar on the camshaft housing (see fig.).
Set the indicator leg to the 2nd cam and set the indicator to "0". This cam actuates the intake valve of the 1st cylinder. Make sure the indicator leg is flat and not convex.
Attention! Rest the indicator leg on the back of the cam, not on its projection!
Put marks on the measuring bar "0" And "10" (mm).
Move the indicator with the measuring bar in the direction of the protrusion of the cam to the mark "10".
Loosen the camshaft sprocket.
Using a 22 mm wrench, turn the camshaft clockwise until the indicator leg rises 0.55±0.05 mm.
While holding the camshaft in this position, screw in a new toothed pulley bolt and tighten it to 75 Nm. Then tighten the bolt another 60-65°. When tightening, the camshaft must not be rotated.
Attention! After fixing the camshaft pulley, check the valve timing again.
Check injection advance, correct if necessary.
