Gasoline engines and 1.7L diesel engines
Valves do not need to be replaced with new ones unless their conical surface is deeply scratched. Valves can be sanded 1-2 times. Further grinding of the valves is not recommended, as this leads to an excessive decrease in the thickness of the cylindrical edge of the plate, which can lead to its burning. This is especially true for exhaust valves. Please note that size A (see fig.O-1001) should not exceed a certain value.
Attention! The end of the valve stem must not be ground.
Dimension A values of the valve test template:
- for engines with a volume of 1.4 and 1.6 liters - 14.4 mm;
- for engines with a volume of 1.8 and 2.0 liters - 18.5-18.45 mm.
Size Check Template A (protruding part of the valve stem) can be made independently from a sheet of tin 1 mm thick.
If dimension A is out of range, replace the cylinder head.
When grinding the valves, it should be borne in mind that the angle of the valve head should be 44°, and the same angle on the valve seat in the cylinder head should be 45°.
