Removing
Loosen the alternator bracket bolt and tilt the alternator towards the engine, thus loosening the belt.
Remove poly V-belt.
Examination
Check poly V-belt for damage (transverse notches, tears, fraying and wear), replace if necessary.
Installation
Put poly V-belt on pulleys.
Attention! When mounting the alternator, first tighten the bracket mounting bolt, and then the two lower support mounting bolts.
Tension
Press the alternator away from the engine by hand.
Insert the Opel KM-612 tool into the hole in the generator housing. This tool is required when using a torque wrench.
Insert the torque wrench with a square into the hole in the tool.
Pull the alternator away from the engine using a torque wrench: in the case of a new belt - 55 Nm, in the case of a used belt - 50 Nm. Tighten the belt only when cold.
Note. A torque of 55 Nm corresponds to a tension force of 400 - 430 N, and 50 Nm to 350 N (approximately).
In this position, tighten the alternator mounting bolt on the bracket.
Tighten the two bolts on the bottom of the alternator support.
