Removal

Loosen the generator bracket mounting bolt and tilt the generator toward the engine, thus loosening the belt.
Remove the poly V-belt.
Examination
Check the poly V-belt for damage (transverse cuts, tears, fraying and wear), replace if necessary.
Installation
Place the poly V-belt on the pulleys.
Caution: When securing the generator, first tighten the bracket mounting bolt, then the two lower support mounting bolts.

Tension
Press the generator away from the engine with your hand.

Insert the Opel KM-612 device into the generator housing opening. This device is necessary when using a torque wrench.

Insert the torque wrench with the square end into the hole in the fixture.
Pull the generator away from the engine using a torque wrench: for a new belt - 55 Nm, for a used belt - 50 Nm. Tighten the belt only when cold.
Note: A torque of 55 Nm corresponds to a tension force of 400 - 430 N, and 50 Nm - 350 N (approximately).
In this position, tighten the generator mounting bolt on the bracket.
Tighten the two bolts on the bottom of the generator support.
