Since the brake booster only works when the engine is running, more force is required on the brake pedal when towing.
The towing rope must be elastic to prevent sudden jerks and damage to both the towed and towing vehicles. Only ropes made of artificial fiber or with an elastic insert should be used.
All-wheel drive vehicles
When towing the vehicle with the front wheels raised, the ignition must be switched off or fuse N19 removed.
Cars with automatic transmission
Move the gear selector lever to position "N".
- Maximum towing speed: 50 km/h!
- Maximum towing distance: 100 km!
If the transmission is faulty, the towing speed is higher or the distance is longer, the front of the vehicle must be raised. This is because when the engine is not running, the oil pump does not work and therefore the transmission is not properly lubricated.
When using a tow truck: raise the front of the vehicle or load it entirely.
