Since the brake booster only works when the engine is running, more force on the brake pedal is required when towing.
The tow rope must be elastic to prevent sudden jerks and damage to both the towed and the towing vehicles. Only cables made of artificial fibers or with an elastic insert should be used.
4x4 vehicles
When towing the vehicle with the front wheels raised, the ignition must be switched off or fuse N19 must be removed.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
Move the gear selector to position "N".
- Maximum towing speed: 50 km/h!
- Maximum towing distance: 100 km!
If the transmission is faulty, the towing speed is higher or the distance is longer, the front of the vehicle must be raised. This is because when the engine is not running, the oil pump is not running and therefore the gearbox is not properly lubricated.
When using a tow truck: raise the front of the vehicle or submerge the entire vehicle.
