Remove the cover shown in the illustration.
Note. Insignia OPC: insert a screwdriver into the slot at the top arc of the cap. Release the cap by gently sliding the screwdriver down. To avoid damage, it is recommended to place a rag between the screwdriver and the frame.
The towing eye is stored in the tool kit.
Screw in the towing eye until it stops, leaving it in a horizontal position. Attach a tow rope or, better, a tow bar to the eye. The towing eye may only be used for towing on the road, not for pulling out a stuck vehicle. Turn the ignition on to unlock the steering wheel and allow the brake light, horn and wipers to operate.
The gearbox must be in neutral.
Attention. Pull away slowly. Avoid jerks. Too much traction can damage the vehicle.
When the engine is not running, much more effort is required to brake and steer. Close the windows and turn on the air recirculation system to prevent the exhaust gases of the towing vehicle from getting into the passenger compartment.
Vehicles with manual transmission and all-wheel drive
If all four wheels of the vehicle being towed are in contact with the road, the towing speed and distance are not technically limited. If only one axle is lifted, the maximum speed must be 50 km/h. There are no distance restrictions.
On vehicles with automatic transmission and front-wheel drive
The car should be towed in the direction of its movement forward at a speed of no more than 80 km / h for a distance of no further than 100 km. In all other cases, as well as with a faulty gearbox, the front axle of the car must be raised.
On vehicles with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive
The vehicle must be towed forward. If the car is towed so that the weight of its wheels is on the road, and the speed must not exceed 50 km / h, and the distance must not exceed 50 km. If the front axle is lifted, the maximum speed must be 50 km/h. Distance restrictions ist.

After towing is complete, unscrew the towing eye.
