Gasoline engines and 1.7L diesel engines
To check the gap between the guide bushings and the valve stems, it is necessary to insert the valve into the guide bushing and press it first against one wall and then against the other. If the gap is felt, then its value must be measured using an indicator. If the gap is out of tolerance, the hole in the guide bush should be reamed and the valve replaced with another oversized one.
Permissible clearance in the valve sleeve:
- for intake valves: 0.018-0.052 mm;
- for exhaust valves: 0.038-0.072 mm.
Permissible radial runout of the valve stem in relation to the valve seat:
- for intake valves: 0.03 mm;
- for exhaust valves: 0.03 mm.
