Gasoline engines and 1.7L diesel engine
Increased oil consumption may be the result of worn valve stem seals. Therefore, the caps must always be replaced when replacing valves or repairing the cylinder head.
Removing
Remove cylinder head.
Compress the valve springs and remove the crackers.
Remove springs.
Remove the valve stem oil seal with a screwdriver.
Attention! Be careful not to damage the rod!
Installation
Slide the mounting sleeve onto the valve stem, lightly lubricating it. The mounting sleeve is included in the valve stem seal kit.
Install new valve stem seals. Be careful not to damage the edges of the caps. Remove the mounting sleeve.
Set the cap down by lightly pressing on the valve guide until its lugs fit into the groove. Attention! Do not push the cap through the entire groove as this may damage the cap!
Install valve springs.
Install the cylinder head.
