Petrol engines and 1.7L diesel engine
Increased oil consumption may be a consequence of wear of the valve stem oil seals. Therefore, the seals must be replaced when replacing valves or repairing the cylinder head.
Removal
Remove the cylinder head.
Compress the valve springs and remove the crackers.
Remove the springs.
Remove the valve stem oil seal with a screwdriver.
Caution! Be careful not to damage the rod!
Installation
Place the mounting sleeve on the valve stem, lightly lubricating it. The mounting sleeve is included in the valve stem seal kit.
Install new valve stem seals. Be careful not to damage the edges of the seals. Remove the mounting sleeve.
Press the cap down lightly on the valve guide until its projections enter the groove. Caution! Do not push the cap through the entire groove, as this may damage the cap!
Install valve springs.
Install the cylinder head.
