Checking and adjusting the starting valve clearance (Opel Kadett D)

The damper is adjusted after overhauling or removing the upper part of the carburetor, and also if the engine does not respond well to the gas pedal.

Adjustment



Pull the starting flap control on the instrument panel out as far as it will go.

Warm up the engine to an oil temperature of +60°C.

The starter lever must be in contact with the stop.

Remove the air filter.

Remove the air filter.


Measure the gap with a drill handle. Data see paragraph 4.49.

Adjustment is made with the screw (arrow) on the vacuum regulator. After adjustment, insure the screw with varnish.
