Checking and adjusting CO concentration (Opel Kadett D)

            0

Warm up the engine to an oil temperature of +60°C.

Turn off all consumers.

The carburetor air damper must be fully open.

Remove the crankcase ventilation hose from the cylinder head cover and plug it.

Connect the tachometer and the CO tester. Start the engine.

Attention! During adjustment the fan should not operate.

Remove the protective seal from the adjusting screw, or screw in a screw and use pliers to remove the screw along with the seal.

The idle speed must be adjusted correctly.

The idle speed must be adjusted correctly.

Adjust CO content, value see paragraph 4.49.

Check the CO concentration again and adjust if necessary.

After adjustment, close the adjustment screw with a blue seal.

Attention! After adjusting the CO, insert the engine crankcase ventilation hose into place. If the CO content increases, this is not a consequence of adjustment, but of intensive engine operation in urban conditions. With fast driving in rural areas for 30 minutes, or an oil change, the CO content returns to normal.
