Removal and installation a vacuum pump (Opel Vectra A)

The vacuum pump creates the vacuum necessary for the brake booster to operate.

The vacuum pump is mounted on the left side of the camshaft housing and is driven by the latter.

Removal



Disconnect the vacuum hose.

Disconnect the vacuum hose.


Loosen the two bolts securing the vacuum pump 1 to the camshaft housing.

Remove drive 2 and oil supply pipe 3.

Installation



Install the oil supply tube with new sealing rings onto the camshaft.

Install the drive.

Install the vacuum pump with a new sealing ring and tighten the pump mounting bolts to 28 Nm.

Connect the vacuum hose.

The vacuum pump is mounted on the rear side of the generator and is driven by the latter.

Removal



Removal


Disconnect the vacuum hose.



Disconnect the oil supply pipe.

Disconnect the oil supply pipe.


Loosen the vacuum pump mounting bolts and remove the pump together with the sealing ring.

Installation



Check the sealing ring for damage and replace if necessary.

Install the vacuum pump with the sealing ring in place and tighten the mounting bolts to 7 Nm.

Pour about 5 cm³ of engine oil into the inlet of the vacuum pump.

Install the oil supply pipe with new sealing rings and tighten it to a torque of 25 Nm.

Install and secure the vacuum hose.
