Replacement
The vacuum pump creates the vacuum necessary for the operation of the brake booster. The pump is installed on the generator and is driven from its shaft.
1. Loosen the tension on the V-belt and remove it (see chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose.

3. Disconnect the oil supply hose. Loosen the clamp and disconnect the oil return hose.
4. Turn out screws of fastening of the vacuum pump and remove the pump with a sealing ring.

5. Check up a condition of a sealing ring of the vacuum pump and, if necessary, replace it.
6. Installation is done in the reverse order to the dismantling of the components. Tighten fasteners to the required torque. Use a new oil supply hose seal.
Examination
1. Checking is done using a vacuum gauge.
2. Disconnect the vacuum tube from the pump and connect a vacuum gauge using a suitable piece of hose.
3. Start the engine and let it idle, measure the depth of vacuum created by the pump - after about one minute, the device should register a reading of about 500 mm Hg. Art. A significantly lower result indicates a pump failure - consult a car service specialist. A faulty pump cannot be repaired and is replaced as an assembly.
