Remember that the dust generated during the operation of the brake mechanisms may contain asbestos, which is extremely harmful to human health. Never blow off dust with compressed air or inhale it - wear a protective mask or respirator when servicing mechanisms. Never use gasoline or petroleum-based solvents to clean brake system components - use only branded cleaners or methyl alcohol!
Removing
1. Turn out bolts of fastening of back wheels, jack up a back of the car and establish it on props. Remove rear wheels.
2. Release the parking brake.
3. On models Corsa B and Tigra remove the hub cap with a screwdriver. Bend the lock cotter pin with pliers and remove it, give the adjusting nut. Remove the brake drum. When doing this, make sure that the pressure washer and the outer bearing do not fall.
4. On the model Combo unscrew the lock screw of the brake drum and remove the drum. If the drum is firmly engaged with the centering shoulder of the hub, lightly tap it with a plastic hammer. Model Wheel Bearing Combo located in a separate hub, while on other models covered in this manual, the wheel bearing is located directly in the brake drum.

5. If the brake drum cannot be removed, remove the plug on the reverse side of the brake shield and press the parking brake lever with a screwdriver so that it rests against the wall of the brake shoe. This will allow the return spring to retract the brake shoes and allow the brake drum to be removed. Disconnect the parking brake cable if necessary.

Examination
1. Sweep away dust accumulated on surfaces from brake components.

2. Check up a condition of an internal working surface of a drum, in case of revealing of furrows or deep scratches replace drums of both brake mechanisms.
3. Minor defects can be eliminated by turning the drum, provided that the maximum allowable value of its diameter is not exceeded.
Both drums must be machined to the same depth. The compilers of this Guide recommend replacing the brake shoes after turning the drums.
Installation
1. On models Corsa B and Tigra relocate serviceable wheel bearings from old brake drums to new ones (see Section Removal and installation of brake shoes).
2. On models Corsa B and Tigra install brake drums and adjust wheel bearing clearance (see Section Replacing the brake linings of drum brakes).
3. On the model Combo clean the threaded hole for the lock screw and, if necessary, carefully pass it with a tap. Lubricate the locking screw with a locking sealant, such as OPEL 1510177. Install the brake drum on the hub so that the hole for the locking screw matches the hole in the hub. Screw in the lock screw and tighten it firmly 4 Nm.
4. Lubricate the centering belts of the brake drums with a thin layer of grease. Install the rear wheels, lower the vehicle to the ground, and tighten the wheel bolts in a criss-cross pattern 110 Nm.
5. Depress the brake pedal approximately 20÷25 times until the adjustment lever clicks no more. This indicates that the brake pads have taken their working position.
6. Adjust parking brake (see Section Parking brake actuator adjustment).
7. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and, if necessary, top up to the MAX mark.
