Contents: Removal ⬇ Installation ⬇
Note: Removal and installation of the timing belt should only be performed on a cold engine.

Removal

Remove the front cover of the timing belt drive of the gas distribution mechanism.

Unscrew the bolts and remove the vibration damper pulley, while using the second wrench on the bolt to hold the crankshaft pulley from turning.

Using the pulley mounting bolt, turn the engine crankshaft again in the direction of working rotation until the mark (3) on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the mark on the front cover of the cylinder block, while the piston of the 1st cylinder is set to TDC.

Make sure that the marks (1) on the camshaft pulleys are aligned with the marks on the cylinder head. Using special tool KM-853 (2), secure the camshaft pulleys.

To loosen the toothed belt tension, loosen the toothed belt tensioner roller mounting bolt by turning the eccentric in the direction of the arrow (clockwise) so that the pointer (4) moves to the stop.

Mark the direction of rotation of the timing belt and remove the timing belt from the engine pulleys.

Warning! After removing the timing belt, do not turn the engine crankshaft, as this may cause the pistons to collide with the valves, causing serious engine damage.

Installation

Check the condition of the timing belt for wear and mechanical damage, oil contamination and replace it if there is even the slightest doubt about the condition of the belt.

In accordance with the previously applied marks, install the timing belt on the engine pulleys, while the tension side (I) must be tight1.

Adjust the timing belt tension.

Install the vibration damper pulley and secure it with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 20 Nm, while using a second wrench on the bolt to hold the crankshaft pulley from turning.

Install the front timing belt cover onto the rear timing belt cover and secure with bolts, tightening them to a torque of 6 N·m.

Note: After replacing the timing belt, it is recommended to attach a tag indicating the date of belt replacement and the vehicle mileage at the time of replacement.
