Remove the cylinder head cover (see the relevant chapter).

Remove the timing belt of the gas distribution mechanism drive (see the relevant chapter).

Using a wrench placed on the hexagon of the camshaft, lock the camshaft from turning.

Using the second wrench, loosen the bolt and remove the camshaft pulley.

Installation



Install the camshaft pulleys so that the marks on the pulleys are located at the front of the engine. The camshaft pulleys are identical and each pulley has two holes for the locating pin. If the pulley is installed on the intake camshaft, insert the pin into the hole marked "IN", and if on the exhaust camshaft, insert it into the hole marked "EX"

Insert the camshaft dowel pin into the corresponding pulley hole, install a new washer and a new pulley mounting bolt.



Using a wrench placed on the hexagon of the camshaft, block the camshaft from turning and use a second wrench to tighten the pulley mounting bolt in several passes:
  • 1st pass: tighten the bolt to 50 Nm;
  • 2nd pass: turn the bolt to an angle of 60°;
  • 3rd pass: turn the bolt further by 15°.

Using a wrench to hold the hex head on the camshaft, align the timing marks (1) on the camshaft bearing caps with the marks (2) on the camshaft pulleys.

Using special tool KM-853 (4), secure the camshaft pulleys.

Install the timing belt of the gas distribution mechanism drive (see the relevant chapter).

Install the cylinder head cover (see the relevant chapter).
