Removal



Remove the camshafts (see the relevant chapter).

Prepare 16 small containers (by number of valves) and number them or divide the large container into 16 sections. Remove the hydraulic valve clearance compensators one by one, placing them in the container with the corresponding number. To remove the hydraulic valve clearance compensators (2) from the cylinder head, use the special tool KM-845 (1). Do not mix up the hydraulic valve clearance compensators from different cylinders, which may lead to accelerated wear.

Warning: Do not store hydraulic valve lash adjusters upside down, otherwise oil will leak out.


Clean all removed hydraulic valve lash adjusters.

Inspect the working surfaces of the hydraulic valve clearance compensators for wear and scratches. Check the walls of the hydraulic valve clearance compensators, as well as the holes for them in the cylinder head, for damage and wear. If the hydraulic valve lash adjuster is suspected to be faulty or appears worn, it should be replaced.

Installation



Lubricate the hydraulic valve clearance compensators with engine oil, then install them into the cylinder head in their original positions.
