Flywheel — removal and installation (Opel Frontera B)

Removal

Remove the gearbox (see the relevant chapter).

Gradually loosen the clutch assembly mounting bolts diagonally, turning each bolt half a turn until the diaphragm spring action is released and the bolts can be removed by hand. Remove the clutch housing with the pressure plate and the driven clutch disc.

Using the special tool KM-652 (1), block the flywheel from turning and unscrew the flywheel mounting bolts.



Use a tap to clean the threaded holes in the crankshaft for the flywheel mounting bolts.

Installation

Install the flywheel onto the crankshaft.

Using the special tool KM-652 (2), lock the flywheel from turning and tighten the new flywheel mounting bolts as follows:

• 1st pass: tighten the bolts to 65 Nm;
• 2nd pass: tighten the bolts by 30°;
• 3rd pass: tighten the bolts by an additional 15°.

Install the clutch housing with pressure plate and clutch disc.

Install the gearbox.
