Removing
1. Loosen the mounting clamps and disconnect the breather hoses from the camshaft cover (see illustration).
2. Turn off screws of fastening and remove a cover of spark plugs. Detach the high voltage wires from the spark plugs, then release the wires from the mounts and move them away from the cover (see illustrations).
3. Loosen the nut securing the engine harness tray to the timing belt cover, then separate the tray from the cover and move it aside.
4. Disconnect the camshaft sensor wiring connector and unfasten the wiring from the camshaft cover.
5. Evenly and gradually loosen and remove the camshaft cover bolts.
6. Lift the camshaft cover off the cylinder head and remove its seal and O-rings installed in the mounting bolt holes. Inspect seals for damage and signs of wear and replace if necessary.
Installation
7. Make sure that the contact surfaces of the cover and cylinder block are clean and dry, then install the seals in the grooves of the cover. Install the O-rings in the recesses around each mounting bolt hole, seating them in a small amount of grease.
8. Apply a small amount of suitable sealant (Opel recommends compound 15 03 295) on the areas of the cylinder head around the front bearing caps of the intake and exhaust camshafts and also on the semi-circular slots on the back of the head.
9. Carefully place the camshaft cover into position, being careful not to dislodge the seals. Install the cover bolts and tighten them to the torque specified in the Specifications, moving in a spiral from the center out.
10. Connect breather hoses and install wire ends to spark plugs.
11. Connect the camshaft position sensor wiring connector, then install the spark plug cap and tighten the cap screws securely. Attach the wire harness support tray to the working position and tighten the mounting nut securely.
