Engines 1.4 and 1.6 l
Disconnect the hose(s) at the camshaft cover.
Remove the bolts together with clamps and/or brackets if possible.
Separate the camshaft cover from the cylinder head.
Before installing it in place, inspect the inside surface of the cover and, if necessary, wipe the cover with kerosene and dry it.
Inspect the rubber seal and replace it if necessary. Note that on some engine models the seal is positioned so that the mark on the seal matches the mark on the cover.
Install the cover, carefully wiping the mating surfaces.
Connect the hose to the fittings.
1.8 and 2.0 L SOHC engines
Follow the same sequence of operations as described in the previous section for 1.4 and 1.6 L engines and replace the gasket.
If possible, inspect the condition of the crankcase ventilation filter under the camshaft cover and clean it with kerosene or water-based solvent if clogged.
Install the cover and new gasket, wiping the mating surfaces thoroughly.
2.0L DOHC engines
Remove the outer timing belt cover.
Disconnect the hoses from the camshaft cover.
Using a socket wrench, loosen the two mounting bolts and remove the spark plug cover. Disconnect the high-tension wires from the spark plugs.
Using a socket wrench, loosen the twenty bolts and remove the camshaft cover and replace the rubber gasket if necessary.
Before assembly, inspect the internal surfaces of the parts, wipe the cover with kerosene or water-based solvent, and dry it thoroughly.

Replace the cover, tighten the bolts and connect the high-tension wires to the spark plugs.
Connect the hoses and replace the outer cover.
