Engine (General information)



Type - Four-cylinder, in-line, water-cooled. Two overhead camshafts are belt-driven and act on hydraulic valve lifters.
  • The engine code assigned by the manufacturer is C 20 XE
  • Cylinder diameter/stroke - 86,000/86,000 mm
  • Cylinder displacement: 1998 cm³
  • The firing order of the cylinders is 1-3-4-2
  • Direction of rotation of the crankshaft - Clockwise
  • Compression ratio - 10.5
  • Max. power - 110 kW at 6000 rpm
  • Max. torque - 196 Nm at 4800 rpm
  • Max. difference in compression pressure in cylinders 1 bar

All specifications are the same as for SOHC engines, except as follows:

Average root neck width:
  • Standard - 25.950-26.002 mm
  • Size increased by 0.25 mm - 26.150-26.202 mm
  • Size increased by 0.5 mm - 26.350 26.402 mm

Pistons



The gap between the piston and the cylinder mirror is 0.020-0.040 mm

Note: Piston diameters - pistons have markings corresponding to those specified above for cylinder bore diameters. The corresponding piston diameter is 0.030 mm smaller than the corresponding cylinder diameter.




Piston rings



All technical characteristics are the same as for engines with single camshaft.

Cylinder head



All specifications are the same as for SOHC engines, except for the following:

Overall height of cylinder head (from one mating surface to another) — 135,630 mm

Valve seat chamfer width:
  • Inlet - 1.000-1.4000 mm
  • Release - 1.400-1.8000 mm

Camshafts


  • Camshaft journal diameter - 27.939-27.960 mm
  • The diameter of the camshaft bearing in the cylinder head and bearing cap is 28.000-28.021 mm
  • Max. allowable radial runout - 0.040 mm
  • Shaft offset along the axis - 0.040-0.144 mm

Flywheel



All technical characteristics are the same as for 1.8 and 2.0 l engines single camshaft.

Lubrication system



All technical characteristics are the same as for 1.8 and 2.0 l engines single camshaft.

Torque wrench tightening torque, Nm


All torque values are the same as for the 2L engine single camshaft, except for the following:

Timing Belt Cover Fastening Bolts — 8

Camshaft sprocket bolt - 50, then turn it to an angle of 40-50°



Crankshaft sprocket bolt - 250, then tighten by 40-50°

Belt tensioner bolts - 25, then tighten to an angle of 45-60°

Cylinder head bolts - 25, then in 4 stages sequentially tighten by 65°, 65°, 65° and 30-45° (the engine is warmed up)

Camshaft Bearing Cap Nuts:
  • Indigenous (M8) - 20
  • Rear (M6) - 10

Pan bolts - 15

Flywheel bolts - 65, then turn to an angle of 40-50°

Engine bracket mounting bolts - 75

Power steering pump bracket to engine mounting bolts - 40

Engine breather tube mounting bolts - 25
