Removing
1. The front camshaft oil seal can be replaced without removing the engine from the vehicle by removing only the camshaft.
2. Remove the timing belt from the camshaft sprocket as described in Chapter 11.
3. Punch or drill a small hole in the center of the gland. Screw in the self-tapping screw, pull out the oil seal with pliers.
Installation
4. Clean the seal seat with a wooden or plastic scraper.
5. Lubricate the sealing lips of the new oil seal, hammer it into place using a socket or tube. Do not damage when installing the sealing lip.
6. Install the camshaft sprocket and timing belt. Tension the belt as described in Chapter 11.
