Note: The engine must be cold when removing the camshaft cover. At installation use new bolts of fastening of a head of the block of cylinders and sealant. Also, before starting work, see point 3.
General description
1. Without disturbing the casing, the camshaft can only be removed with a special tool for pressing the valve lifters when removing the camshaft.
2. If such a tool is available, the camshaft can be removed by removing the pre-toothed drive belt and camshaft sprockets as described in Chapter 11.
3. If there is no special tool, the camshaft cover must be removed. Since it will be necessary to unscrew the cylinder head bolts, it is highly recommended to prepare a new head gasket for installation. If you don't replace the gasket and it breaks during reassembly, the head will need to be removed again to replace the gasket, also use a new set of bolts. You have been warned!
4. Removal and installation of the camshaft housing are described in Chapter 18, as part of the cylinder head removal and installation procedure. If it is decided not to disturb the cylinder head, the items relating specifically to the removal and installation of the cylinder head can be ignored.
5. Removing the camshaft from the casing is described in Chapter 18.
