Attention: The TIG camshaft is being installed. When installing this ox in engines with numbers up to:
- 13N-814741
- 13S-814742
- 16N-17702
- 16S-95245
an additional oil channel is made in the camshaft housing (in the factory). Other engines have this channel. If the camshaft is replaced, then the levers are also replaced (part number 640579) and the oil is changed. Oil is being poured «SF» I5W-40 and after 1000 km is replaced. All sliding surfaces of levers and camshaft are coated with MoS2 grease (OPEL 1948565).
Removing
Remove the cylinder head see point 1.5.
Place the camshaft housing on two wooden blocks and remove the camshaft housing cover.
Unscrew the distribution wheel. While holding the camshaft with a key from turning.
There are wrench flats between the 3rd cylinder intake cam and the bearing, See Fig. below.
Unscrew the ignition distributor from the camshaft housing.
Where present, unscrew the fuel pump.
Remove the camshaft stop plate.

After installing the TIG camshaft, it must first be run in for 4 minutes in 4 steps at variable speeds between 3000 and 1500 rpm:
- Stage 1 - 1 min. at 2000 rpm.
- Stage 2 - 1 min. at 1500 rpm.
- Stage 3 - 1 min. at 3000 rpm.
- Stage 4 - 1 min at 2000 rpm.
Attention: Run-in is mandatory.
Wash all assembly parts in gasoline. Clean mating surfaces.
Thoroughly coat all sliding surfaces of levers and camshaft with MoS grease before assembly2.

Install the fuel pump with a new seal.
Press the camshaft oil seal into the crankcase.
Screw on the camshaft wheel. Tighten bolts to 45 Nm (for diesel 90 Nm).
Attention: Bolts must always be replaced.
