Attention: When working with robots, it should be remembered that when the engine is hot, the coolant fan may spontaneously turn on. Risk of damage.
Caution: If the engine has been dismantled or replaced, the correct ignition setting must be checked to avoid damage to the engine. Especially for vehicles with mileage over 40,000 km, the centrifugal and vacuum ignition timing controllers should be checked. If the test results are unsatisfactory, the ignition distributor should be replaced.
Removing
Disconnect ground cable (-) from the battery.
Remove the air filter see paragraph 4.44.
Remove the lower coolant hose from the radiator.
Drain the coolant into a vessel, as it may be needed again.
Disconnect and remove the upper coolant hose from the radiator and thermostat.
Disconnect and remove lower coolant hose, hose to expansion tank and heater hoses.
Remove the heater and vacuum hoses from the intake manifold.
Remove cables from carburetor.
Disconnect and remove pressure and return fuel lines.
Tape all electrical wires leading to the engine and remove them.
Remove generator.
Remove the front upper clutch dome bolts.
Raise the car (for example, a jack).
Remove the rear upper clutch dome bolts.
Pull the gearbox input shaft out of the gearbox bearing shield, see point 9.1.
Disconnect the ground cable from the gearbox.
Remove the vibration damper from the toothed belt drive gear (1.6-/1.8-l engines).
Remove clutch cover.
Unscrew downpipe from manifold and from bracket for rear engine mount.
Attach a sling to the engine eyes and hang it on a crane. If the crowns cannot be used, then put a sling on a strong pipe, and put the pipe on the goats.
Unscrew the bottom screws in the clutch dome.
Remove the front right engine mount.
Remove the rear right engine mount.
Press the engine away from the clutch dome and turn slightly.
Pull the engine up. If there is no crane, then the engine can be removed with two assistants.
Engine installation
Attach the lower coolant hose to the water pump before installing the engine.
Carefully lower the engine into the engine compartment.
Insert the upper and lower screws into the clutch dome and tighten them to 75 Nm.
Screw the ground cable to the gearbox.
Attach the clutch cover. In this case, it is necessary to support the differential with a jack.
Remove jack. Install alternator, tension V-belt, see point 22.1.
Install rear right engine mount and tighten screws to 65 Nm.
Install the front right engine mount, fix it on the engine block with a force of 40 Nm, on the muffler block with a force of 60 Nm.
Install the vibration damper to the toothed belt drive gear.
Screw downpipe to exhaust manifold, see point 8.1.
Remove the sling, lower the car.
Connect all electrical wires as marked.
Install the drive shaft see point 9.1.
Install all coolant and heater hoses, secure with clamps.
Connect the pressure and return fuel hoses. Do not mix up hoses.
Top up coolant, bleed air from cooling system, see point H.2.
Install the throttle and choke cable, see par. 4.17, 4.25, 4.37.
Connect ground cable to battery.
Install the air filter see paragraph 4.44.
Check engine oil level Start engine and check for leaks.
After reaching the operating temperature, check the coolant level, top up if necessary, see point 3.2.
Adjust idle speed see item 4.11.
Adjust ignition timing see point 23.9.
