Removal and installation the generator (Opel Kadett D)

Note: If you install a spare OPEL alternator instead of a standard or triple plug, connect only the blue and white cable for the battery charge indicator light directly to the plug connector ("D+" or "Lomp"). In the case of a diesel engine, the brake booster vacuum pump is removed together with the alternator, since here the pump is flanged to the alternator.


Removal



Disconnect and remove the ground cable from the battery.

Disconnect all cables from the generator.

Disconnect all cables from the generator.


Diesel Engine: Remove both oil hoses from the vacuum pump on the generator, or unscrew.

Loosen the mounting bracket and the lower mount of the generator, tilt the generator towards the engine.



Remove the V-belt.

Remove the generator.

Installation



Insert the generator, tighten the upper and lower fasteners by hand.

Attach all males.

Put on the V-belt and tighten it.

Tighten the lower and upper fasteners.

Make sure the ground cable is connected.

Remove the low pressure hose.

Diesel engine: Screw the hollow screws for the oil hoses with new gaskets to the vacuum pump on the generator. Put on the low pressure hose and secure with a clamp.

Connect the ground to the battery.

Attention: When replacing the relay for fog lights, heated glass, cooling fan, do not use relay 1238573-90187518. Otherwise, despite the switched off power consumers, the battery may discharge or the generator may fail. Therefore, use only relay 12386849-90094809.
