Attention: In contrast to the DC generator, the AC generator must not be operated without a battery. Do not start the engine without a battery!
Removal is possible but the generator is installed (only BOSCH). For a diesel engine, the vacuum pump on the rear of the alternator must be unscrewed in advance.
Diesel engine: Unscrew the vacuum pump from the generator. To do this, unscrew the 3 fastening screws.
Remove the vacuum pump with connected leads from the generator shaft.
Shine generator complete with brush holder at the back of the generator. For the Delco generator, first unscrew the back cover.
Length of new brushes - 10 mm (A), wear limit - 5 mm (Bosch generator).
Otherwise, solder and replace the brushes.
To prevent the solder from protruding when soldering new brushes, squeeze the place of the solder with pliers.
With a large amount of solder, the wire becomes brittle, which makes the brush unusable.
The cambric at the place of soldering must be compressed by a loop.
After installing new brushes, check the ease of movement in the brush holder.
Insert and screw the voltage regulator.
Screw on the diesel engine with the 3 fixing screws.
Connect ground cable to battery.
Diesel engine. After a test drive, check the tightness of the vacuum pump.
