Starter malfunctions and how to fix them (Opel Kadett D)

If the starter does not turn, first check if there is a pin at terminal 50 of the traction relay (control wire, black and red) the voltage required to pull in the relay is not less than 8 V. If the voltage is lower, you should check the wires related to the starter according to the diagram. Then you should check the operation of the traction relay with normal battery voltage.

Do not engage gears, ignition on.

By wire (cross-section of at least 4 mm²) jumper terminals 30 and 50 of the starter, see diagram.

If the starter engages normally, then the cause of the defect is in the wiring to the starter. If the starter does not engage, then it must be removed and checked.
